‘TIS The Season when things really slow down in the news biz. It’s when us veteran reporters usually hand over the reigns to the rookies and let’em try to squeeze blood from a stone. Which brings us to the announcement that a challenger has decided to run against our local councilwoman in next years primary. Putting it right up there with Covid Pandemic, Ukraine Invasion, and the World Cup when placed in the right journalistic hands. Or maybe we should all just head down to St. Bart’s immediately?
Too late, you already clicked through, now you’ll have to sit through Poli Sci 101. Said Councilwoman has only been in office for a year, but the challenger has plenty to say about her brief tenure. ‘Say’ yes, meat no, because really, how much impact does anyone really expect a sole city council member to have on their fiefdom, city, planet in that time span, or any time span for that matter?
This position is simply too inconsequential for a battle to occur over it after a whopping 15-person primary was settled in July of last year. Equally inconsequential are the differences between the candidates platforms. They may think there’s a huge gap, but outside observers wouldn’t. And one would have to be somewhat delusional to think being one of 51 City Council members is going to have a big impact on anything.1 There has to be a better use of one’s time. Alas for some people there apparently isn’t, so we get this and now you’ve all had to spend your own precious time reading about it. Bah Humbug!

[…] What is this a 21st Century Watergate? I’m just not sure this is that newsworthy – we’re talking a City Councilwoman, more like where a disgruntled employee intersects with a slow news day. I wish there were […]
