DUE to the lack of any meaningful local headlines, I chose to delve into a recent pair of stories in The New York Daily News criticizing LIC’s Community Council Member Julie Won for some apparent indiscretions. Or I should say the husband of Council Member Julie Won.
Said indiscretions include his being banned from Twitter for comments that he made back in 2011 when he was 20 years old. None of which rise to the level that anyone should be overly judgmental given the context.
He also told “staffers for a New York congressional candidate to eat “a lot of Adderall” and take other extreme steps — like setting off fire alarms — to get people to come out and vote” according to a tape given to The News.
“In addition to the recording obtained by The News, freshly unearthed emails show Won’s husband, Eugene Noh, has taken on a larger role than previously known in his wife’s government office, including giving instructions to her staff even though he’s not a Council employee.”
Let’s just stop there. A tape recording and freshly unearthed emails? What is this a 21st Century Watergate? I’m just not sure this is that newsworthy – we’re talking a City Councilwoman, more like where a disgruntled employee intersects with a slow news day. I wish there were something meaty here, but with zero mention of nudity in these indiscretions, I’m going back to sleep.
//BAGELS update: Are you a glutton for gluten? Well Mike Varley who published the NYC Bagel Survey I wrote about ten months ago, is now doing bagel walking tours! Whereby he will take participants on a culinary journey through any of the city’s five boroughs. Along the way, guests will sample a variety of authentic bagels from different bakeries and delis, learn about the traditional methods of baking, and discover the cultural influences that have shaped the city’s bagel scene. Mm-mm.

February 9, 2023 at 4:37 pmI really couldn’t care less about Mx. Won’s husband’s peccadillos. What I do care about is that Mx. Won is a very stupid person, like so many people on the NYC council. They seem split between dopes and mendacious schemers.

Pushing unknown businesses and artisans/artists out is a way to reap fast buck, via elaborate convening of meetings. Hi rises instead of jobs and industry. Cutting off your legs for a few to reap a lot. And those few include few LIC residents.
