I really, really, really wanted to write about the menage-a-trois that a 16-year old male in Louisiana had with his 20-something and 30-something female teachers, as all these years later I still find the female teacher/male HS student combo tantalizing and questionably illegal. The fact that there were two female teachers in the same school willing to conspire and collaborate, I’d guesstimate is probably a five-standard deviation occurrence, …maybe ten.
Sadly, I am constrained by my mandate to focus on local news, whether it is real or not, and no matter how mundane. Sometimes though, fate intervenes and I am handed a consolation prize. In this case, The Daily News just published an article declaring a trend towards extended families moving in unison into new buildings, and lucky me the family they profiled chose LIC.
The details are as follows: married couple with young child move into 4610 Center Boulevard. The wife’s mom and dad move in across the hall, and her brother moves in upstairs with his boyfriend. You can read the whole story if you are so inclined, I just think it’s another interesting twist as to the types of people that are filling these towers, especially since it’s the kind of set-up I have been contemplating lately, and to some extent living in. Bringing it all back home, it is also kind of like a menage a trois: a little awkward at first, but very satisfying in the end. I think.
//Moving into the mundane area, this week the Michelin Guide announced its annual roster of NYC restaurants to whom it awarded its coveted stars. Most of the media crowed something like “Outer boroughs reign in…” as four restaurants in Queens were deemed noteworthy, including Casa Enrique and M. Wells in LIC. Personally, I have been indifferent to corporate deigned “Best Restaurants” lists since the Zagat’s Guide went online eons ago, but I have the flexibility to write about menage a trois’, and food writers do not. Nevertheless, as anyone who actually lives in Queens knows, most of the best food out here is under-the-radar. Meh, but what do I know about fine food? If I were judging I’d bestow three stars on Nathan’s.
