WELL we’re midway through the Festival of Lights and I’m happy to report there have only been five related apartment fires in LIC so far. In other local holiday news, you may have noticed that we’ve been putting out fewer posts in the past month. That’s because we’ve outsourced our employees to Amazon Santa in order to help make toys for the Xmas rush – a newsroom being the perfect place to find cheap labor.
THERE’S a new year about to start, and with it come new resolutions, such as eating less meat. No, that wasn’t on your list? You were planning on giving up alcohol, taking up CBD, or some combination of the two? Well anyway my editor assigned me this story and with it a deadline.

BLEAK winter is near, the public schools have shut down, and the pandemic is in an upswing – the latter of which is keeping many people from getting together with relatives. I’ve got my Swanson Turkey TV Dinner all ready to go. Will take it out of the freezer an hour before cooking to give it that real turkey taste. No friends this year, but still wearing my mask between sips. But I’m looking at the bright side and thankful that I have reliable Thanksgiving mainstays the Lions and Cowboys as accompaniment.

Virginia, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds.
LOST in the hubbub of the election, it’s aftermath, and a raging pandemic, was the second anniversary of Amazon’s announcement of Long Island City as the co-winner for HQ2 on November 5. Were it to have been consummated the headquarters would probably have been in its early stages of development right now. While office workers would have been a few years out (ex those assigned to the Citi Building in Court Square), construction workers would have been plentiful, buttressing the lunch time and happy hour business along Vernon Boulevard. And the thought of what was to come in another year or two would have given LIC a light at the end of the tunnel. Now we have?
