WHILE others dream of tasting menu’s and sidling up to the bar for a shot and a beer, in 2021 I greatly look forward to jammed subway platforms and cars. Never again will I take for granted the sea of humanity that is NYC. Or at least not until 2023. Instead of looking back at the annus horribilis, I prefer to dwell on the positive.

SO you’re looking for a long term relationship are you? Well Long Island City has one with the Elghanayan family and the love-fest continued in the past week as both Rockrose and TF Cornerstone announced their latest development plans for the neighborhood. The former is a 19-story, 300-unit tower in familiar territory for this branch of the family on Queens Street just off Jackson Avenue. For most a building this size would be a gargantuan meal, but for Rockrose it’s a mere appetizer in their menu. The only detail I found surprising was their supposedly only paying $13 million for the lots as it seems like a low price to pay for land that can house a building this big.

WELL we’re midway through the Festival of Lights and I’m happy to report there have only been five related apartment fires in LIC so far. In other local holiday news, you may have noticed that we’ve been putting out fewer posts in the past month. That’s because we’ve outsourced our employees to Amazon Santa in order to help make toys for the Xmas rush – a newsroom being the perfect place to find cheap labor.
