City Looking At Master Plan For LIC’s Waterfront Post-Amazon

NYC officials have been holding talks with property owners and leaders in Long Island City about joining forces and coming up with a master plan for the northern portion of the LIC Waterfront according to Politico via The Real Deal. This acreage includes the two lots that were part of the Amazon deal as well as the 5-acre plot just north coined ‘Lake Vernon.’

LONG Island City will get a third new BBQ restaurant in 2019 when Pig Beach opens it’s second location in the former Studio Square space up near the Astoria border. According to an article in Boro Magazine, this will happen in late Fall.

‘So,’ you may be wondering, ‘who is that instructor teaching kids to play tennis at the handball courts on 48th Avenue and 5th Street in Long Island City?’ His name is Joseph Orlic and he’s been coaching kids in that location since 2014. He originally came to LIC at the request of a local parent who discovered him in another program, and since then his practice has spread solely through word-of-mouth and those stopping by to inquire.
