Men and women in blue suede shirts emblazoned with the logo “Tenant King” have invaded LIC. What is Tenant King? Basically a community bulletin board for Long Island City.

WILL THE 2014 MACY’S FIREWORKS BE VISIBLE FROM QUEENS?
The Oval in Hunters Point South is two and a half miles from the Manhattan Bridge, and the shortest distance between Queens and the northern most fireworks barge in this year’s Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks display. With that in mind, to what extent will those staying in Long Island City for the Fourth actually be able to see the fireworks? Frankly I haven’t a clue. So I’ve decided not to gamble, and instead have leased my friend Roman’s yacht to get me and one hundred of my nearest and dearest in the mix, after which we’ll hightail it down to Rio for the World Cup Finals.1 As for those contemplating staying in Long Island City for the show, will it be worth it?
