Dorian’s Diner at 10-01 50th Avenue has closed. Located at the heavily trafficked intersection of Vernon Boulevard and 50th Avenue by the Manhattan-bound entrance of the 7-train, the restaurant was dark this evening. According to a note on the door they decided to no longer remain open for a number of unmentioned reasons.
Though the signage says “Dorian Cafe,” everyone in LIC refers to it as Dorian’s Diner, and it’s been operating as Dorian’s for over a decade – though I believe it changed hands a few years back. Furthermore it’s been a centrally located place to grab grub and hang out in Long Island City since the 1960’s. As for what’s next, your guess is as good as mine…
Century Rubber Supply Corner Store On Jackson Ave Up For Sale – another Long Island City landmark will probably also be changing in the new year
