THERE will be NO Macy’s Fireworks for Long Island City in 2025. For the second year in a row, they will be not be held here. Yes, the fireworks will be held on the East River, but they will be centered down by the Brooklyn Bridge. Yes, feasibly you could see them if you stood on the Gantry piers, but they’ll have less visual and auditory impact than a self-launched bottle rocket or roman candle. Don’t let the uninformed mislead you, your time is better spent elsewhere.
Anyway, for those who have never experienced the fireworks when they are held here, this extravaganza made LIC the center of the world for a day, and featured such as artists as Coldplay and J-Lo serenading the locals in the Oval in the days prior. This year we only have the memories.
