I’ve used that tired headline for four years in a row now. It’s the gift that keeps on giving to lazy journalists everywhere. Spring has sprung, yeah so what? Whatever the season, we promise to use recycled material only 50% of the time, and we also promise to be correct 50% of the time. That means you have a 1 in 4 chance of reading up-to-date and accurate information. I think those odds are a lot better than Sunnyside Yards coming in on time and on budget.
//In light of the 50 students waitlisted for Kindergarten at PS78Q, and the anticipation of this problem only getting worse as more apartments are built in LIC, a petition has been started calling for a new school to be built. As a friend of mine in the DOE told me several weeks ago, this has been a case of willful neglect. Now we pay the price.
//Taste of LIC has been announced and turns 10 this year! Just like Burning Man, this extravaganza has come a very long way since it’s inception. Unlike the former there’s food …and clothes …and it’s in a city not a desert …and it’s easy to get to …and the people are normal …somewhat …and politicians are there …and drug use is not rampant, but alcohol abuse… Anyway, at $65 a person it’s a pretty good deal. Mark your calendars now for June 2.
In summary, we have a recurring headline, a recurring seat shortage in our schools, and a recurring annual event. What else were you expecting from a free website?
