LAST week I received an email from a reader who shared that the rent on her 3-br was recently increased from $6,900 to $7,900 a month. ‘Interesting data point’ I thought whilst simultaneously calculating in my head its equating to a 14.5% boost and wondering ‘I’ve seen the recent “Highest NYC Rents Ever” headlines of the past month, but what other local semi-anecdotal data points are available out there?’

‘Green Energy’ Hub Proposed For Lake Vernon Waterfront Site In LIC
THE developer who owns the six-acre ‘Lake Vernon’ site on the waterfront has proposed a “green energy hub to power neighboring businesses” according to The New York Post. This was one of the plots originally slated to be tied into the Amazon proposal and the subsequent ‘Master Plan’ concept that arose out of that dissolution, the latter of which subsequently dissolved too for reasons that are still somewhat of a mystery.

THERE is nothing more important than proximity when it comes to exercising. Between inertia and the multitude of distractions in the 21st century, convenience is the key to a successful and thriving Rec Center. Thus when it was pointed out to me that ‘Yes indeed, there is a plan to build a Rec Center in the LIC Waterfront Master Plan,’ I couldn’t help but feel tremendously disappointed in looking at where it’s tentatively slated to be.
