A NEW restaurant by the name of 4747 LIC will be moving into the former home of Bellwether. Though the actual address is 47-25 Vernon Boulevard, the name represents its being located between 47th Road and 47th Avenue according to the owners. As with Casa Lola we will once again have to be somewhat coy in revealing the details due to legal particulars. Somewhat.
What we can reveal is that the restaurant plans to have a small-dish Mediterranean focus (and I’m guessing tilted more towards the European coast than the Middle Eastern). The owners are also revamping the look, and have made quite a few changes to the interior, including correcting some pre-existing violations. Said owners have also lived in LIC for a long time and have previous restaurant experience. That is all we can share for now, except for one last item: 4747 LIC is expected to open sometime this Spring!
//MORE restaurant news: 51st Bakery is under new ownership. Well actually that’s been the case since September when it was purchased by a local. Originally founded by Faye Hess and Jonathan Stirling back in 2013, there doesn’t appear to be any major changes to the menu (phew!) or look of the place, just a new overseer.
Luzzo’s Pizzeria in Court Square has closed according to the LIC Post, but after a year-long wait Juliet Pizza at 27-20 Jackson Avenue in Court Square looks close to opening. Housed in a corner location previously the home of Juliet Printers years back and various food pop-ups since then, the signage indicates pizza-by-the-slice and pies.
Juliet Pizza will also include a gastro pub. Pizza in the front, pub in the back. Run by the same people that do Levante, so likely to be excellent.
