TWO months ago I stepped out of my office in midtown shortly before noon to find a long line snaking along the sidewalk at the head of which was a bright red food truck. I asked the last person in line what’s so exciting about this food truck and the only thing I remember of her response was that it would all be sold out in an hour. I then ditched my salad inkling and became the last person in line. When my turn came I opted for the namesake and ordered the 8-piece regular pan-fried dumplings and took them into Bryant Park. Best meal I ate all month, just wish I’d had a cold one to wash it down with.

Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, London, LA, Long Island City – an incongruous lot to say the least, what do they all have in common? As of today they all have a ‘Four Winters Ice Cream’ location. Paris, Tokyo, Manhattan, and ahem Brooklyn do not. Furthermore it’s not even a local rag giving this trifle an overzealous who/what/where but citywide media. Even worse, there’s video that was broadcast on a TV station regarding this, ahem …appalling hazard (I did not watch it). And it’s not just one station, or even two, but multiple including WCBS, FOX, WPIX, and WABC. When the press makes the news, it’s time to go on vacation…
//WAIT there’s breaking news and it’s big, real big: A second Chinese restaurant is coming to Hunters Point! According to a small sign on the door of 10-07 50th Avenue, a restaurant specializing in Szechuan cuisine is being built out. No other info is available, but given that it’s formerly the home of Kavala Estiatorio which was run by the Shi/Skinny’s empire, I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a hand in it…
