The Porta Potty’s have been stationed, the police barricades delivered, and the “No Parking” signs posted along Center Boulevard. The table has been set and the weather looks like it will cooperate for tomorrow nights fireworks. But if you are reading this and planning on attending, you are probably one of the few living in LIC to do so. This town has cleared out in the last day, and been quiet all week. Nevertheless the expectations are for masses to flock to Gantry-Hunters Park. If mingling with the hoi-polloi is not your thing, there are a few local places offering VIP treatment and seclusion. It’ll cost you $100 at LIC Landing, and $125 at the Z Hotel rooftop. For those looking for a 4th of July bargain, here’s a little LICtalk tip: head over to Food Cellar and pick up prime sirloin steaks from the butcher. Normally $18.99 a pound, they are on sale this weekend for only $9.99. Had them last night with a side of Mother Nature’s pyrotechnics and they were delicious, as they always are.
Will you be able to see the fireworks if you stay? I don’t know, but as I mentioned previously I’m outta here. Wherever you end up, let the celebrations begin…
