A hit & run driver who severely injured a scooter rider last week near Vernon Boulevard has turned himself in according to The New York Daily News.
The tragedy occurred around 6pm on Wednesday at the intersection of Vernon Boulevard and 44th Drive. The victim, 30-year old Brendan Marmolejos, is listed on LinkedIn as a restaurant manager at Murray’s Cheese, which has a location on Jackson Avenue. According to a GoFundMe page set up by his cousin, he is fighting for his life with many broken bones and severe head trauma.
The driver, who allegedly fled the scene, turned himself in to police on Friday. Two lives, one intersection in Long Island City, heavy stuff which makes a heat wave fairly inconsequential.
