GEE willikers, it’s that time of the year again. ManhattanHenge was scheduled to take place on May 28 & 29, but weather interruptus, and returns on July 11 & 12. Though each day is a succinct event, some believe the whole stretch between the two two-somes is a time for unbridled animal spirits. And while I don’t know what that term means exactly, I’d like to think there is nudity involved. With or without bare skin, it also spans the time of year when the days are at their longest. ManhattanHenge & Memorial Day Weekend 2021 In LIC

Stonehenge! ‘Tis a magic place
Where the moon doth rise with a dragon’s face
Stonehenge! Where the virgins lie
And the prayers of devils fill the midnight sky

Don’t expect any dragons, virgins, or photographers for ManhattanHenge in Gantry Park this weekend, as the weather has no intention of cooperating. The final nail in the coffin is that the bridge in Gantry where the lensman normally congregate to capture the double-wide crosstown 42nd Street in full plumage, is closed for renovation. While they’ll get another shot when ManhattanHenge 2021 Pt. II swings back around July 13, if they come to LIC to click their shutters they may have to settle for 34th Street.

YES, yes yes, the MoMa PS1 Warm-Up Schedule and ManhattanHenge dates were publicized this week. While the substance of these two announcements might be considered news on their own, what they really herald is the arrival of summer. Which coming ahead of the long Memorial Day weekend is apropos. FIREWORKS BACK IN LIC IN 2017! IS LIC ACADEMY OF MUSIC DONE?

THE MACY’S 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS ARE RETURNING TO THE EAST RIVER IN 2017 according to a memo sent to residents of Hunters Point South this afternoon and forwarded to us by a reader. What else is there to say except LICtalk got it first and thank you Squeaky!

//I can’t think of any word with the addendum “henge” attached that doesn’t make me envision the Stonehenge scene in Spinal Tap. ManhattanHenge via LIC truly evinces a squeal because we have the oversized Gantries standing in for the undersized napkin-erred Stonehenge sets. We also have a lot of amateur photographers crowding around those gantries, whose presence makes me envision something completely different.

Anyway before I get completely off topic, make sure you have film in the polaroid because Memorial Day at 8:13pm is when it all goes down for the first time, followed the next day at the same bat time, and then again on July 12 & 13 at 8:20pm.

A MARRIOTT HOTEL WITH A STARBUCKS OPENS IN LONG ISLAND CITY

Manhattan Henge and all that comes with it is coming - as is summer — ManhattanHenge is coming – summer too

A 31-story Marriott hotel containing a Starbucks opened today in Queens Plaza across the street from Dutch Kills Green. Ok, ok, it’s actually a Courtyard by Marriott, but according to NY Yimby it is the largest hotel building in Queens and one of the city’s largest hospitality establishments outside of Manhattan. Yet even that may be a little misleading, because even though it has 160 rooms, it will also contain 135 residences.
