IN yet another sign that things are getting back to normal, ‘Live At The Gantries’ musical performances have returned to LIC this summer. Every Tuesday at 7pm thru August 24 a different band and a different genre will take the stage under the Gantries by 49th Avenue and Center Boulevard. By my estimation two-thirds of the bands are really good, one-third so-so and one-third awesome. There are many signs this week of summer’s imminent arrival in LIC. The PS78Q Spring Fair on Center Boulevard is this Saturday, as is the 3rd Annual LIC Hoops Men’s Basketball Tourney. The latter is hosted by Gantry Plaza State Park on their 48th Avenue courts and will be followed on Sunday with a kids basketball tournament for boys and girls in grades 1 – 12.
