CAPITALISM fills the void as the wave of change continues in Long Island City. No sooner had Chinese take-out New City Kitchen closed and morphed into The Sandwich King, that we hear from an inside source that Continue reading
SATURDAY night I walked down Vernon Boulevard around 9pm and found all of it’s dining and drinking establishments more packed than not – a big change from numerous other strolls I’ve taken along the same path in the past year. Maybe it Continue reading
“Enjoy every sandwich” 1
A whole lotta news happened here while I was guzzling away on the beach during Spring Break. There’s no craft beer where I went, just Bud Light during the day and Fireball at night. With heavy doses of that combo you don’t even need a motel room. Would you like to see pictures? No? Well then let’s talk sandwiches! Continue reading

Thank goodness for retail store turnover, otherwise there would be zero local news of significance1. Anyway, Masso Restaurant which has occupied a prime corner location on Vernon Blvd and 47th Rd. since 2005, seemed to have closed when I passed it recently.
After some considerable sleuthing I discovered that the restaurant is also Continue reading
